Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of individual characteristics on organizational commitment through the work satisfaction of the millennial generation in Surabaya. The research was quantitative. Moreover, the population was employees from the millennial generation who worked in Surabaya with unknown (infinite) numbers. The data collection technique used accidental sampling. In line with that, with the Hair formula, there were 100 respondents as the sample. Furthermore, the instrument in the data collection technique was a questionnaire and Likert scale. The data analysis technique used Partial Least Square with SmartPLS 3 version. The result concluded that individual characteristics had a positive and significant effect on the organizational commitment of the millennial generations in Surabaya. Likewise, individual characteristics had a positive and significant effect on the work satisfaction of the millennial generations in Surabaya. Additionally, work satisfaction had a positive and significant effect on the organizational commitment of the millennial generations in Surabaya. In addition, individual characteristics had a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment through employees’ work satisfaction of the millennial generation in Surabaya.
