Abstract

This research aimed to examine and analyze the effect of reward and punishment on the employees’ performance
with work discipline as the intervening variable at Health Department East Java Province. This research was
used quantitatively. Furthermore, the research sample used a simple random sampling method, a sample
selection from the random population without seeing the existing strata. Moreover, the research population
used civil servants in Health Department East Java Province with 72 respondents. Moreover, the data was
collected by questionnaire method. While the research analysis method used Path analysis with SPSS program
25 version. The research showed that Rewards had a significant positive direction on the employees’
performance. Punishment had a significant effect with positive direction on the employees’ performance.
Discipline had a significant effect with positive direction on the employees’ performance. The reward had a
significant effect with positive direction on the employees’ performance through employees’ work discipline.
Punishment had a significant positive direction on the employees’ performance through employees’ work
discipline.
