Abstract

To have stock investment in public companies, investors have to evaluate stock first, in order to minimize some
risk. The evaluation can be done through fundamental analysis by focusing on companies financial ratio. While
the research used independent variables, namely Price to Earning (PER), Price to Book Value (PBV), and Net
Profit Margin (NPM) as independent variables. Meanwhile, stock price as a dependent variable. This research
aimed to find out the effect of PER, PBV, and NPM on stock price of banking companies. Moreover, researcher
chose banking companies which were listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) 2017-2018 as the sample.
Furthermore, the data were taken from the official website of IDX. Additionally, the data collection technique used
purposive sampling. In line with, there were 11 samples from 42 banking companies. In addition, the data analysis
technique used multiple linear regression. The research result concluded that, partially PER and NPM had a
positive but insignificant effect on stock price. However, PBV had a positive and significant effect on stock price
of banking companies. In suggestion, this result was expected to be used as investors consideration in having stock
investment by focusing on the condition of companies financial ratio first.
