EFEK KENAIKAN HARGA BBM TERHADAP SAHAM PERUSAHAAN MANUFAKTUR SEKTOR FOOD AND BEVERAGE

Abstract

On September 3, 2022, the Indonesian government announced an increase in fuel prices. The increase in fuel prices is expected to affect the prices of other goods which makes the level of public consumption weaken. Therefore, the research aimed to examine the stock market reaction through the difference in stock price and stock trade volume which was caused by the announcement of a fuel price rise in Indonesia. The research was comparative-quantitative. Moreover, the data collection technique used purposive sampling, in which the sample was based on sampling, a sample of 69 manufacturing companies in the food and beverage sub-sector was obtained from 72 manufacturing companies in the food and beverage sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Furthermore, the data were taken during 10 days before and 11 days after the announcement. The data analysis technique used the independent sample t-test. The result showed that there was a significant difference in stock price before and after the announcement of the fuel price rise. However, there was no significant difference in stock trade volume after the announcement of the fuel price rise in Indonesia.
