Abstract

This research aimed to examine the effect of profitability and firm size on the stock price of cigarette companies that were listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2013- up to 2020. The profitability was measured by Return On Asset (ROA), Return On Equity (ROE), Net Profit Margin (NPM), Earning Per Share (EPS), and firm size was measured by Ln total asset. The research was quantitative. The population was 5 cigarette companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2013-up to 2020. Moreover, the data collection technique used purposive sampling with 32 samples from 4 cigarette companies for 8 periods (2013-2020). The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression with SPSS 25. The research result concluded that Return On Asset (ROA), as well as Return On Equity (ROE), had a negative effect on the stock price. It meant the hypothesis was rejected. In contrast, Net Profit Margin (NPM), Earning Per Share (EPS), and firm size had a positive effect on the stock price. This meant the hypothesis was accepted.
