Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of task-technology fit that was mediated by the usage of smartphones on the learning achievements of accounting students in the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL). This study distributed questionnaires to 156 accounting students; however, only 72 results could he processed and derived as data. Moreover, the hypothesis was tested using structural equation modeling - partial least squares (SEM-PLS). As the results, this study indicated that the task and technological characteristics had a positive effect on task-technology fit; and task-technology fit had a posilive effect on smartphone usage. In addition, the smartphone usage mediated the effect of task technology on learning achievement. While, the characteristic of individuals (learning styles) did not affect task-technology fit in advancing learning achievement.
