Abstract

The amount of profit in financial statement becomes a benchmark in evaluating companies and management’s performane. While, profit management occurs as management’s information is more than the shareholder’s. Therefore, this research aimed to find out empirical evidence of the effect of managerial ownership, debt policy, and firm size on the profit managament of Property and Real Estate companies which were listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange. Meanwhile, profit management was referred to discretionary accrual which measured by using modified Jones model. Moreover, managerial ownership was measured by proportion of stock ownership, debt policy was measured by DER (Debt to Equity Ratio) and firm size was measured by total asset. The research was quantitative. Moreover, the data collection technique used purposive sampling. Furthermore, independent variable were managerial ownership, debt policy and firm size. Meanwhile, dependent variable was profit management. Additionaly, the data were secondary, which taken from annual report of Property and Real Estate. In addition, the data analysis technique used multiple linear regression with SPSS. The research result concluded managerial ownership and firm size did not affect the profit manaagement. On the contrary, debt policy had positive effect on the profit management.
